Résumé : |
This work is based on the early care of strokes in medical imagery. The CHU UCL Namur (Dinant site) is putting in place a new procedure.
Today, the stroke is the third cause of death and the first cause of acquired handicap in developed countries. Every year, in Belgium, 19 000 cases of stroke are recorded. They can be divided into two types: the most frequent is the ischemic stroke (80%) and the rarest is the hemorrhagic stroke (20%). The patient must be taken care of as fast as possible as the life prognosis and treatment will hinge on it. The longer the wait, the worse the irreversible sequels will be. During these early stages, different contributors have to work together fast. The communication between them and between the different services is paramount to ensure optimal care. The role of these contributors as well as medical imagerys are crucial in the diagnosis of this pathology. This work will explain the nature of a stroke and define the different types. It will then review the different imagery tools used in the treatment of this pathology as well as the procedure followed by Dinant hospital and the role of the technologist. Finally, the different treatments will be explained. In conclusion, the ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes are medical emergencies. The diagnosis must be made as fast as possible to limit irreversible sequels. To make it possible, the communication between the different contributors is of the greatest importance. |
