Résumé : |
Background
Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a complication affecting around 1-1.5% of pregnant women and accounting for in excess of 25,000 hospital admissions per year in the United Kingdom (UK) (Gadsby & Barnie-Adshead 2011,Einarson et al 2013). Characterised by severe and unceasing nausea, frequent vomiting and a myriad of other symptoms such as ptyalism, perverted olfactory response, extreme fatigue and headaches, it is unsurprising that HG accounts for significant psychosocial impacts as well (Poursharif et al 2008). Social isolation is a significant factor along with depression, anxiety and a loss of self (OBrien & Naber 1992,OBrien et al 2002,Meighan & Wood 2005). |
