Résumé : | Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) is a qualitative methodology that is suitable for conducting midwifery research, as it concerns the subjective lived experiences of people. IPA's philosophical concepts align with midwifery in that it is person-centred, empathic and holistic (Miles et al 2013). Based on my experiences of using IPA to explore student midwives' lived experiences of caring for bereaved parents using actor-based simulation (Leyland 2022), this paper addresses the philosophical and theoretical concepts that underpin IPA, including sampling, methods of data collection and data analysis. |
