The dermatoscope is a noninvasive tool used by dermatologists to inspect the surface features of the skin, including visualization of melanin located in the epidermis and dermis.
The usage of the dermatoscope, in addition to the various algorithms and classifications, has made the process of narrowing down differential diagnoses much more accurate and precise not only for pigmented lesions but also for common lesions like warts. Once diagnosis and treatment of the wart have begun, the dermatoscope then allows the practitioner to follow the disappearance of the capillaries and honeycomb appearance and the restoration of the dermatoglyphics, which shows complete resolution of the wart and ultimately avoids premature cessation of treatment. |
