Résumé : | After the tragedy of Fukushima, the Japanese society decided to create direct readingdosimeters who allow to the population to measure the radiation in the air to reassure them. These dosimeters, Smart Geiger and Smart Geiger Pro sold in internet for a price of 38 and 68 euros and operate via an application on smartphones. The aim of this work is to see if those dosimeters can be used in workplace in order to know the radiation dosethat the health care workers receive because the reading of conventional dosimeters can only be done weeks or months after the exposition. These dosimeters have been irradiatedwith three radioactive sources. The dosimeters have been tested with cesium-137 who emit the high energy photons (662 keV). Measurements in function of the distance, in function of the time, reproducibility and background noise have been done. Then, they have been tested with iodine-125, with low energy photons (27 to 35 keV) and they have been irradiated in function of the distance too and their reproducibility in the low energy have been tested. Finally, they have been tested with Tc-99m, which is a good compromise between cesium-137 and iodine-125. The results shown that these dosimeters dont give the same dose rate than the Radiagem or the electronic dosimeter, who are the reference dosimeters, on every radioactive source. They have a bad reproducibility in the low energy, their measurements are not more precise if we increase the time of measurement and they never give the same measurement than the reference dosimeters. In conclusion, they cant be use in a hospital as personal dosimeters. But they might be used in a qualitative aim because they detected the radiation every time. More tests shouldbe done to investigate this perspective. |
