Résumé : | Soft tissue defects of the lower leg and hindfoot are challenging due to superficial tendon, bone, and neurovascular structures. The use of fasciocutaneous flaps for coverage of distal leg/hindfoot tissue defects has numerous advantages over alternative options muscle or free flaps. As compared with muscle flaps, the fasciocutaneous flaps result in no loss of function, provides higher patient satisfaction and aesthetic result, and has a significantly faster return to weight bearing. In contrast to free flaps, coverage of the distal leg with perforator flaps allows a shorter hospital stay postoperatively, requires less operative time inherently reducing costs, and carries less risk for perioperative cardiac and pulmonary complications. |
