Résumé : |
There is precedence for direct assessment tools within many surgical fields that have been validated for evaluation of resident performance; this study considers application to the evaluation of residents of podiatric medicine and surgery.
The direct assessment tool created for the evaluation of surgical competency was shown to be a reliable indicator of resident performance and may be a starting point as competency-based assessment methods in podiatric medicine and surgery are considered. Along with the ability for direct assessment, the tool was shown to provide the opportunity for valuable direct, case-specific feedback. |
