Résumé : |
The process of preventing falls should commence by taking an in-depth medical history during initial interaction with a patient.
When conducting a lower extremity physical examination with an emphasis on fall prevention, it is important to consider foot biomechanics, foot problems and deformities, and footwear. Multifactorial interventions that include a combination of podiatric care, footwear assessment, and distribution of prefabricated insoles with exercises seem effective at reducing falls. Insole features including thickness, texture, and softness could impact effectiveness with regard to fall prevention. General foot and podiatric care to address pain and problems (eg, debriding hyperkeratosis, nail care) may improve strength, balance, and function. |
