Résumé : |
Purpose: Purposes of the study were: 1) the cross-cultural adaptation of the SSQ into Dutch based on the method proposed by Beaton et al. (Beaton, Bombardier, Guillemin, & Ferraz, 2000) ; 2) to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Dutch version.
Methods: This study was carried out in two parts (1) translation and cross-cultural adaptation and (2) the validation of the Dutch version. The SSQ was completed by 100 healthy respondents, who ranged in age from 18 to 80 years old. Of these respondents 30 were asked to fill out the questionnaire a second time within an interval of two weeks to evaluate the test-retest reliability. Results: The Dutch version of the Sydney Swallow Questionnaire was close to the original version, easy to fill in, and well accepted. We found a good test-retest reliability of the SSQ with an ICC of 0.826. There was no correlation between age, gender, BMI and SSQ score. Conclusion: The Dutch translation of the Sydney Swallow Questionnaire has proven to be a valid instrument for assessing symptoms of dysphagia. |
