Résumé : |
Köhler disease refers to the condition of pain and swelling of the medial midfoot with associated osteochondrosis or avascular necrosis of the tarsal navicular in the child.
Though the etiology of Köhler disease remains unknown and is likely multifactorial, the prevailing hypothesis suggests microtrauma to the cartilaginous navicular by the surrounding tarsal bones leads to disruption of the vascular supply of the bone. Long-term outcomes for Köhler disease is favorable regardless of the type of treatment, although a short period of immobilization with a short leg walking cast may reduce the duration of symptoms. |
