Mesure comportementaleRésumé : To develop and assess use, acceptability and feasibility of an ecological hearing conservation programme for workplaces. Design: A school-based public health hearing preservation education programme (Dangerous Decibels®) was adapted for workplaces using the Multi-level Approach to Community Health (MATCH) Model. The programme was delivered in small manufacturing companies and evaluated using a questionnaire before the training and at one week and two-months after training. Study sample: Workers (n?=?56) from five small manufacturing companies were recruited. Results: There was a significant improvement in knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of workers at the intrapersonal level; in behaviour motivation and safety culture at the interpersonal and organisational levels; and an overall improvement in hearing-health behaviour after two months post-intervention. Conclusions: The developed programme offers a simple, interactive and theory-based intervention that is well accepted and effective in promoting positive hearing-health behaviour in workplaces. Environnement de travail ; Infection croisée ; Kinésithérapeutes ; Prévention des infections ; RéadaptationRésumé : Objectives
To analyze the microbiota of the physiotherapists work environment to understand the existing potential risks and to adopt appropriate preventive measures.
Design
Cross-sectional descriptive observational study.
Setting
Physiotherapists working environment.
Participants
Physiotherapy and rehabilitation centers (N=19).
Interventions
A microbiological sampling was carried out in the physiotherapy centers. The samples were studied using the usual culture and analysis methodology for characterization and isolation of a range of bacteria.
Main Outcome Measures
Absolute and relative frequency of microorganism isolation.
Results
In the analysis, pathogens normally responsible for nosocomial infections were detected, especially on instruments and equipment used by the physiotherapist such as sponge electrodes, and were significantly more contaminated than the rest of the places studied (P<.01> Conclusion
This situation confirms the absence of measures and protocols for the prevention and control of such infections in the physiotherapist's environment, which is why they must be considered to protect both physiotherapy professionals and patients.Disponible en ligne : Oui En ligne : https://login.ezproxy.vinci.be/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a [...] Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=260259

Environnement de travail ; Exposition au bruit ; Produit chimique ; Santé publique ; Solvant ; Surdité due au bruitRésumé : Objective
To determine if exposure to organic solvents and noise is associated with audiometric results among workers from a printing press in Mexico City.
Design
Cross-sectional study.
Study sample
One hundred and seventy-six male workers at a printing press in Mexico City exposed to noise and organic solvents, including xylene, and 103 non-exposed male workers as reference group. Hearing thresholds were assessed with pure-tone audiometry.
Results
Poorer hearing thresholds were observed among printing workers than non-exposed controls, particularly among groups with over 5 years of exposure. Hearing thresholds differences were observed in the frequencies above 500 Hz, especially in 4000 Hz in all exposure groups compared to the reference. Adjusted models for age and previous exposure to noise and organic solvents showed worse hearing thresholds as years of seniority increased β coefficients (95% CI): ≤5 years: 3.06 dB (0.01, 6.10); >510 years: 4.51 dB (1.13, 7.89); >10 years: 4.58 dB (1.20, 7.96). Further analyses showed no interaction between noise and organic solvents on hearing thresholds, considering both current and previous occupational exposures.
Conclusion
Exposure to noise levels that were below recommended exposure limits and organic solvents were associated with poorer hearing thresholds than those observed among non-exposed study participants. This suggests that workers exposed to solvents should be included in hearing conservation programmes, even when noise exposures are below 85 dB. If only noise levels were taken into consideration in the risk assessment of this worker population, the risk of hearing effects could have been overlooked.DOI : 10.1080/14992027.2020.1795735|1 Accès : Contactez la bibliothèque d'Ixelles si le lien vers la ressource électronique ne fonctionne plus Disponible en ligne : Oui En ligne : https://login.ezproxy.vinci.be/login?url=https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10 [...] Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=263407
