Instrument de mesureMots-clés : Extension/Flexion Essais de résistance Tronc isocinétique et isométrique Dynamomètre Résumé : Objectives
The present study aimed to assess the between day reliability of isokinetic and isometric peak torque (PT) during trunk measurement on an isokinetic device (IsoMed 2000).
Design
Test-retest-protocol on five separate days.
Participants
Fifteen healthy sport students (8 female and 7 male) aged 21 to 26.
Main Outcome Measures
PT was assessed in isometric back extension and flexion as well as right and left rotation. Isokinetic strength was captured at a speed of 60°/s and 150°/s for all tasks.
Results
For none of the assessed parameters a meaningful variation in PT during test days was observed. Relative reliability (ICC = 0.850.96) was excellent for all tasks. Estimates of absolute reliability as Coefficient of Variation (CoV) and Standard Error of Measurement (SEM in Nm/kg lean body mass) remained stable for isometric (6.9%
Conclusions
Trunk strength measurement in flexion and extension or trunk rotation in either isometric or isokinetic condition is highly reliable. Therefore, it seems possible to elucidate changes which are smaller than 10% due to intervention programs when a preceding familiarization condition was applied.Disponible en ligne : Oui En ligne : https://login.ezproxy.vinci.be/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a [...] Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=133557

Enseignants ; Enseignement primaire ; Harcèlement scolaire ; Instrument de mesure ; TraductionMots-clés : The Bullying Attitude Questionnaire Scénarios hypothétiques Résumé : Introduction
Teachers are the most likely people to intervene in bullying situations in primary schools. An effective and inexpensive way to measure the quality of their interventions during these incidents is the hypothetical scenario. However, there is no such validated measurement tool available in French.
Objective
The study objective was therefore to translate, adapt, and validate The Bullying Attitude Questionnaire among francophone primary school teachers.
Method
The participants were 37 female primary school teachers who completed the adapted version of The Bullying Attitude Questionnaire, translated in French by bilingual experts, as well as other scales used as external criteria.
Results
The translated and adapted version of The Bullying Attitude Questionnaire showed good concurrent validity. Moreover, previous study conclusions using the same measurement tool were replicated in this study.
Conclusion
Hypothetical scenarios represent a convenient way to measure the quality of teacher's interventions in bullying situations. In line with previous studies, teachers tend to perceive relational aggression as less severe than physical and verbal aggression. In such situations, they are less empathetic toward the victims, less upset with the perpetrator, and less likely to intervene.Disponible en ligne : Oui En ligne : https://login.ezproxy.vinci.be/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a [...] Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=266444

Electronique ; Expérience scientifique ; Instrument de mesure ; ModélisationRésumé : In this article, we present an intriguing experimental exercise that does not fall foul of improper use of instrumentation. The activity is designed as an electronics exercise where the role of the instruments in the measurement of the RC time constant is considered. Essentially, we study the accuracy and precision of a measurement of the RC time constant in a series circuit with an oscilloscope as a function of the value of the resistor, against the predicted linear model of τ = RC. As the value of the resistor approaches the value of the impedance of the oscilloscope, the time constant deviates from the linear model. We show how to adapt the model to account for this and create a mathematical model that agrees with the measurements. It is hoped that such an exercise will solidify a rule of effective use of oscilloscopesthat the resistance of the circuit should be much lower than the impedance of the scopein the mind of the student. Histoire des sciences ; Instrument de mesureRésumé : In the museum wing of the Greenslade house is a clock with a two-second pendulum about one meter long (Fig. 1). This ticks once per second, and every time it passes through dead center it completes an electrical circuit. When I came to Kenyon in 1964, this system was used to send signals to a series of telegraph relays, which ticked once per second. Students in the first-year laboratory used beats between the ticking sec-onds and the oscillation of the pendula they were studying in an era when stopwatches were expensive. This clock inspired me to write this article about physicists who have pendula named after them: Christiaan Huygens, Lionel Wilberforce, Henry Kater, Benjamin Robins, Leon Foucault, and Hugh Blackburn.
