The purpose of this study was to elucidate expert opinion on the conservative treatment of thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods
A 21-item survey to determine the practice patterns of Italian hand therapists who treat arthritis of the CMC joint was developed and distributed through a professional online survey service to assure confidentiality and anonymity.
Results
Of the respondents, 80.8% were physical therapists; the remaining 19.2% were occupational therapists. 84.6% of the specialists who make decisions regarding patient pain management education.
Conclusions
There is variability in the knowledge and practice patterns of Italian hand therapists relating to conservative management of thumb CMC OA.Disponible en ligne : Non Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=127356

Cheville ; Deformation ; Maladie de Paget ; Osteoarthrite ; Osteotomie ; TibiaRésumé : Sagittal distal tibia deformities produce a greater change in tibiotalar joint contact areas than with valgus or varus deformities.
Talar anterior or posterior translation occurs secondary to a distal tibia sagittal deformity and worsens the asymmetric joint overload and secondary cartilage damage.
Distal tibial angle and talar position relative to the tibial axis should be always obtained to evaluate the deformity severity and the amount of correction needed.
Anterior distal tibia closing or opening wedge osteotomies are the recommended treatment options for posterior or anterior ankle arthritis, respectively.
Fibular osteotomies should be generally added to the tibia osteotomy to help with talar repositioning.Disponible en ligne : Oui En ligne : https://login.ezproxy.vinci.be/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a [...] Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=290997

Douleur ; Enquêtes et questionnaires ; Genou ; Osteoarthrite ; PerseRésumé : Background & Objective: There is strong evidence regarding impaired knee self-perception in patients with chronic knee osteoarthritis (OA). Currently, the Fremantle Knee Awareness Questionnaire (FreKAQ) has been developed to evaluate knee self-perception. This study aimed to evaluate validity and reliability of the Persian version of FreKAQ in patients with chronic knee OA. Materials and methods The FreKAQ was translated via forward-backward translation. In total, 312 patients with chronic knee OA completed the questionnaire, and the construct validity of the instrument was evaluated using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA and CFA). Moreover, its reliability was confirmed using internal consistency and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. In addition, intra-class correlation coefficient and standard error measurement (SEM) and minimal detectable change (MDC) were used to assess its relative and absolute consistency. Therefore 50 patients, completed the questionnaire twice at one-week intervals. Results In EFA, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (0.705) and Bartlett's tests were significant (P Disponible en ligne : Oui En ligne : https://login.ezproxy.vinci.be/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a [...] Permalink : https://bib.vinci.be/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=291323
