Résumé : |
Standards for student supervision and assessment (SSSA) were developed in response to Article 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001, providing student midwives with innovative education and training opportunities, so that they can achieve the proficiencies required for admission to the register (Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) 2023). The NMC describes the role of a practice supervisor (PS) as observing and supporting students during clinical practice, within the limits of their own competence, to facilitate learning and professional growth (Hallam & Choucri 2019). The level of supervision is dependent on the student's individual requirements and should naturally decrease as their competency and confidence increase.
In its simplest terms, neurodiversity refers to the many ways that a person's brain can interpret and process information, and includes conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism and dyslexia (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust n.d.). Stigma and negative terminology are frequently associated with these conditions; therefore, many neurodivergent adults develop coping mechanisms such as masking (Edwards et al 2022). Suppressing neurodivergence may create an additional barrier to optimal learning and working conditions, as well as leading to greater incidences of burnout and social anxiety (Saline 2023). |
