Résumé : | Research in maternity care is a key element towards improving outcomes for mothers and babies. Evidence to challenge and develop clinical practice and explore the experiences, attitudes and knowledge of families and practitioners is a powerful tool to drive change in a complex and pressured environment. There is consensus that 'research active' NHS trusts have better clinical outcomes, enhanced service-user experience, and greater staff satisfaction and retention (Jonker et al 2020). It is also a disappointing fact that the midwifery workforce, while delivering the bulk of maternity care across the UK (Care Quality Commission (CQC) 2024), is proportionately least involved in prioritising, conceiving and driving current maternity research. |
