Résumé : |
Aim
Our objective was to study the association between knowledge and behavior in terms of nutrition. Populations and methods Our study was carried out on 731 participants from the city of Casablanca. Data was collected using a questionnaire containing sociodemographic characteristics, dietary frequency, and open questions to assess nutritional knowledge. Results Our results have shown a strong link between poor knowledge and poor eating behaviors. Individuals, who did not consume following nutritional recommendations, especially in terms of consumption of red meats, chicken, and fish, reported incorrect opinions concerning these recommendations. The adjustment by a certain number of sociodemographic variables shows that this was observed independently of age for the consumption of fruits and vegetables (≤ 29 years), the consumption of red meats ( Conclusion Positively influencing nutritional intake and promoting healthy behaviors is a challenge for developed and developing countries. Our results have shown poor nutritional knowledge, subsequently suggesting that the study population should benefit from educational events to develop solid nutritional knowledge. |
