Résumé : |
The main objective of studying adverse events (AE) in a nuclear medicine department is to understand what type of AE can occur there, what means are used to report them in order to analyze and correct them, and why are they not all declared. This study links the statistical data concerning the adverse events listed from the quality cell (covering three years) with the feelings of the staff. Being in the heart of the new reporting practice of the AE and the new safety culture, a survey was
conducted among the nuclear medicine technologists of the CHIREC Hospital. A more detailed analysis of a few AE has be conducted as example. Resulting from the survey, several constraints concerning AE reporting were highlighted. Communication appears to be the main constraint. A clear talk where all the objectives and used terms are well defined can help to enlighten the staff on the importance on reporting AEs without being sanctioned. The staff is feeling overwhelmed when faced with statements, is wondering about the real goals and has no feedback on the efficiency of the reporting system. As a result, the number of statements is incomplete (and underestimated) because every AE is not declared. The problematic of this study will be the following: « Why declare a little issue ? It takes time and Im not sure it is useful. » This work can provide clues to help improve communication within the nuclear medicine department. |
