Résumé : |
This study talks about the evolution of the breast volume throughout the radiotherapy treatment.
First of all, a theoretical part will be presented, it will be composed by notions about breast cancer, physical bases and different radiotherapy treatments. The objective of this study is to highlight the swelling of the breast, depending on three parameters that could influence it, the dose per fraction, the number of fractions and the volume of the breast. In order to perform this work, 18 patients were selected, 8 patients who had a treatment of 15 fractions with boost, 6 patients who had a treatment of 15 fractions without boost and 4 patients who had a treatment of 25 fractions without boost. From the treatments, the breast volume will be delineated on the positionning CBCTs (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) using a software called "Raystation". The breast volume data are processed in relative volume in order to visualize the different volume variations. Graphs allowing to highlight an increase or a decrease of the breast volume during the treatment are realized for the 3 groups. It is notable, for the category whose breast gland increased, that the swelling appears at the level of CT3-CT5 until CT9-CT11. In conclusion, 164 volumes of breast have been declined, despite what might be thought, the study showed that more patients experienced a decrease (61%) in breast volume than an increase (39%). |
