Résumé : | Cavovarus deformity provides a challenging and complex condition for the foot and ankle surgeon, affecting 20% to 25% of the population. In treating patients with cavovarus deformity, a thorough evaluation of the patient with a biomechanical emphasis should be performed. The cavovarus deformity is the result of a varus heel position with pronation of the first ray in stance resulting in a forefoot equinus and high longitudinal plantar arch. Because of the complex nature of the forefoot and hind-foot relationship, cavovarus deformity may be the result of forefoot deformity, hind-foot deformity, or a combination of both. As these deformities progress, osteoarticular malalignment secondary to intrinsic and extrinsic imbalances results in overall deformity. |
