Résumé : |
Injury of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) complex can result in medial ankle instability (MAI) or rotational ankle instability (RAI).
An injury of the anterior fibers of the MCL secondary to an ATFL insufficiency is possible, and this pattern has been defined as RAI; whereas, injury of the intermediate fibers of the MCL will result in an MAI. Chronic ankle instability may present concomitant intraarticular pathologies, and this may cause postoperative symptoms when not treated. Because these conditions can often not be detected on imaging studies, arthroscopy has evolved as a helpful and important diagnostic tool, and it enables the surgeon to define the best treatment strategy. Repair of MCL injury by an arthroscopic all-inside procedure is an effectiveness technique when treating either MAI or RAI. |
