In order to respond to a growing demand for MRI examinations, hospital institutions are imposing shorter sequence time.
It is mainly for this reason that the research question is: "How far can the time of an examination be reduced, without compromising its quality, so that it can be interpreted?". In order to answer this question, two type of examinations, multiple sclerosis and knee were chosen. The tests were carried out on voluntary and healthy subjects with no specific pathology. The results were then analyzed in a blind test by radiologists. Two methods of reducing the time of the sequence have been used. A method varying the acceleration factor of parallel imaging and a method varying the resolution. The first objective was to obtain 20 and 50% reduction, but after weve done the test it was more of 20 and 40% reduction. We have 100% acceptability with both methods for 30% of reduction, and 75% acceptability for a 50% degradation of the total time of acquisition for the multiple sclerose cart. Furthermore, we have 100% acceptability with both methods for 40% of reduction, and 66,67% acceptability for a 50% degradation of the total time of acquisition for a standard knee cart. The main result observed is that the best method to reduce the sequencing time is the reduction of the resolution. |
