| Résumé : | The treatment of complex wounds of the lower extremities can be extremely challenging for the lower extremity surgeon. When performing a salvage of the lower extremity it is essential to take into consideration several factors including, osseous defects, infection, neural and vascular status, and soft tissue coverage. Implementation of an orthoplastic approach to lower extremity reconstruction has increasingly become an important modality in the management of lower limb defects. There are several approaches and algorithms described in the literature regarding lower extremity salvage techniques. Rodriguez-Collazo and Khan have described an orthoplastic algorithmic approach to wounds associated with distal one-third of the lower extremity. |
