Résumé : | It is a widely known fact that breastfeeding offers the best start to life for any child. The United Nations International Childrens Emergency Fund (UNICEF 2017) further supports this statement by suggesting breast milk works similarly to a babys initial vaccine in boosting its immunity. Moreover, it has other benefits such as protecting the woman against disease, which promotes healthier families and ultimately results in lower health care expenditures. This illustrates the importance of breastfeeding continuation on an international level, yet the Infant Feeding Survey 2010 revealed that in the UK, the exclusive breastfeeding rate at six months was at 1% (McAndrew et al 2012). This paper will demonstrate the authors skill development in contributing to breastfeeding continuation using Gibbs cycle of reflection (Dye 2011), based around a scenario from practice. |
